BRIPAC Museum

BRIPAC Museum, Alcalá de Henares

Museographic Collection of the Paratrooper Brigade

The room is located in a historic space that was part of the city walls in the 15th century. Next to the alley known as Callejón del Horno Quemado and the Hospital de San Lucas, the building is the result of the restoration of an old tower of the wall. In the museum room, panels explain the history of Bripac from its creation to the present day. The room exhibits objects, souvenirs, awards, decorations and all kinds of material related to the Bripac, its history and its functions within the army.

The panels are as follows:

  1. The Bripac of today and tomorrow. Effective, agile and courageous.
  2. The birth of the paratroopers. Creation of the paratroopers. Sidi Ifni and the Sahara.
  3. Creation of the Parachute Brigade. The leading unit.
  4. The international missions.
  5. The legend of the Ivanica mine.

“The First Army Parachute Corps (I BPAC), named after the Almogávar leader Roger de Flor, was created on October 17, 1953.

During 2016, the Paratrooper Brigade began its change to adapt to the new Army organic, which transformed it into a larger and more powerful unit without losing its specific characteristics.

The VI Paratrooper Brigade “Almogávares” is a unit proud of its short but intense history, heir of glorious traditions. It is always ready to act in the positions of greatest risk and fatigue, wherever the interests of Spain require it.

Today, BRIPAC is the immediate response and initial entry unit for the entire army.”
