The City Council of Alcalá, through its Department of Tourism, has published an extraordinary book prepared by the restaurants of Alcalá Gastronómica. 25 Recipes for the 25th Anniversary’. With this event, the close collaboration between the Department of Tourism and Alcalá Gastronómica, the association that includes about 25 representative restaurants of the city, is further strengthened. The Mayoress, Judith Piquet, together with the First Deputy Mayoress and Councillor for Tourism, Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, and the President of Alcalá Gastronómica, José Valdearcos, presented this publication.

Piquet emphasized the “importance of the gastronomic offer to boost the tourism project as an economic generator. Gastronomy is one of the sectors that has been boosted by the declaration of Alcalá as a World Heritage Site. Congratulations to the chefs who have prepared the recipes and to the restaurateurs who have made this tourist and cultural bet for the city’s cuisine possible”.

From her side, Isabel Ruiz Maldonado assured that “this book represents and symbolizes like no other the great moment that the tourism sector is experiencing in Alcalá. The gastronomic offer is excellent and the added value of the entrepreneurs is the differentiating factor”.

The commitment to gastronomy is further increased because, in order to balance the calendar of events in the city, we are bringing back the Gastronomic Competition and the Cervantes Gastronomic Award to the month of May, a competition that will be held at the Corral de Comedias Theatre in Alcalá.
